Duties & Functions (Administration of Equivalency)

The Administration of Equivalency shall undertake the following tasks and functions:

 

1. Conducting studies, research and providing data on Higher Education institutions abroad and their systems in terms of types, stages, levels, enrollment systems, exams, academic degrees, administration, and the supervising bodies (governmental or private).

 

2.  Suggesting the foundations for accrediting non-Yemeni higher education institutions and preparing schedules for their recognition by the Ministry.

 

3. Providing Yemeni diplomatic missions abroad with lists of recognized and recommended educational institutions.

 

4. Gathering information about fake universities, institutes and schools in or through which certificates are forged and sold, in order to prevent access within the Republic, and inform the relevant authorities about them.

 

5. Providing technical support to the Board to form the Equivalency Committee and follow up on the implementation of its minutes and decisions.

 

6. Exchange information with regional and international bodies and organizations concerned with the recognition of Higher Education institutions, and prepare lists of educational institutions whose certificates are recognized.

 

7. Preparing and maintaining records related to certificates that have been processed for equivalency.

 

8. Preparing a database including everything related to the equivalency of certificates.

 

9. Developing a list of well-known universities accredited by the Council whose certificates do not need equivalency process.

 

10. Collecting information and documents about the systems and regulations of evaluating and equivalency of academic degrees around the world.

 

11. Preparing periodic reports of work and progress to be submitted to the Secretary-General.

 

12. Reporting on preparing the agendas of the specialized equivalency committees, writing their minutes, documenting their decisions to be submitted to the Secretary-General and presenting them to the Chairman of the Council.

 

13. Preparing decisions related to the equivalency of certificates obtained from outside the Republic and approved by the equivalency committees.

 

14. Any other tasks or functions required by the nature of its work or assigned by the Secretary-General.
