The Academic Accreditation Council receives the programmatic accreditation request for one of the Saba University programs

Today, the Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance Council
received Sheba University's request to assess the readiness of the university's
Dentistry program for national programmatic accreditation.
In the delivery event, with presence of the Minister of Higher
Education Hussein Hazeb, the President of the Academic Accreditation Council,
Dr. Ahmed Al-Haboub, and the President of the University, Dr. Amr Al-Najjar,
signed an agreement to submit a written application signed and certified by the
university’s legally authorized official to the Academic Accreditation Council
regarding the assessment of the readiness of the Dentistry program for national
programmatic accreditation “in preparation for application to obtain
international accreditation.
The agreement includes verifying the integrity of the program’s
self-evaluation procedures and submitting the evaluation study of the program
in accordance with the document and manual of standards for programmatic
accreditation and relevant forms issued by the Academic Accreditation Council,
and obligating the university to provide the Council with its internal quality
system manual according to the Quality Systems Preparation Manual issued by the
Council.
The Minister of Higher Education acknowledged Sheba University's
announcement of its readiness to apply for national programmatic accreditation,
as the first Yemeni university to complete the procedures required to obtain
national accreditation and to be evaluated by the Academic Accreditation
Council.
He noted the steps taken by the university and the dentistry program
in fulfilling the commitments of self-evaluation, providing infrastructure and
qualified cadres, and joining the competition of excellence and creativity to
advance academic education and improve the quality of outputs.
He stressed the Ministry's keenness to support the efforts of
universities wishing to obtain national programmatic accreditation in
preparation for obtaining international credit. He clarified that the ministry
will not open the door for admission and registration during the next academic
year in medical disciplines in universities that have not yet submitted to the
Academic Accreditation Council to obtain national programmatic accreditation.
While the Chairman of the Academic Accreditation Council, Dr.
Al-Haboub, and the Secretary-General of the Council, Dr. Mohammad Daifallah,
indicated that the outputs of medical programs in Yemeni universities will not
be recognized unless they are accredited by the Council in accordance with
international standards.
They emphasized that accrediting the dentistry program at Sheba
University depends on verifying its readiness for evaluation and its commitment
to academic and administrative standards, infrastructure, equipment and
laboratories.
From his side, the President of Sheba University confirmed the
readiness of the dentistry program to apply for national programmatic
accreditation, as a step to apply for international accreditation.
Sheba University president also reviewed the achievements made by
the university in various academic programs, especially the dentistry program
in terms of laboratories, equipment, infrastructure, and academic and
administrative staff.
