CAQA receives Programmatic Accreditation Application from the National University

The
Council for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance received, today, the
National University's application for programmatic accreditation in the
disciples of pharmacy, medical laboratories, business administration, and
information technology.
During
the event, in presence of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific
Research, Hussein Hazeb, and the Minister of Planning and Development, Dr.
Abdulaziz Al-Kumaim and his deputy, Dr. Ali Sharaf El-Din, the Chairman of the
Academic Accreditation Council, Dr. Ahmed Al-Haboub and the Rector of the
National University, Dr. Fatehi Sharwan, signed an agreement to submit a
written application signed and approved by the legally authorized official of
the university to CAQA to provide technical and advisory support to ensure the
quality of academic programs for the afore-mentioned disciplines and their
qualification for specialized “programmatic” accreditation in preparation for
applying for international accreditation.
The
agreement includes starting the self-assessment of the program in accordance
with the document and guide of standards for programmatic accreditation and
associated forms issued by CAQA, and requiring the university to implement the
specified self-assessment methodology. CAQA shall provide necessary technical
and consultative support to ensure the quality of these programs and to qualify
them for specialized accreditation, in addition to identifying strengths and
weaknesses in the performance of the program and to develop the necessary plan
for improvement.
The
Minister of Higher Education considered the year 2022 a start for CAQA to
qualify academic programs in Yemeni universities for programmatic accreditation
in accordance with international standards.
Hazeb
urged universities to apply soon for technical support and qualify academic
programs to obtain specialized accreditation; proceeding to obtain
international accreditation.
Chairman
of the Academic Accreditation Council, Dr. Al-Haboub, on his part considered
this step to be the beginning for the committee to visit the university and
assess its current situation, examine its files, and carry out training
workshops to qualify for specialized programmatic accreditation for those
programs in preparation for applying for international accreditation.
While
the Rector of the National University, Dr. Sharwan, confirmed that the
university has made great progress in updating and developing its academic
programs in accordance with academic standards and preparing to apply for
specialized accreditation for the disciplines: pharmacy, medical laboratories,
business administration, and information technology.
He
stated that this steps comes within the framework of achieving the goals,
vision and strategic plan of the university and in accordance with the National
Vision for building Modern Yemen; aiming to improve the quality of the
educational and academic process and reaching high positions in the global
ranking index.
The
event of signing the agreement was attended by the undersecretaries of the
Ministry of Higher Education, members of the Academic Accreditation Council,
the Secretary-General of the Council, Dr. Mohammad Dhaifallah, and the
deans of faculties at the National University.
